Preliminary Meeting

Grey cat

After you contact us about hiring a cat sitter in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas, we will send you details on how to register your details on your online Pet Portal.

At the beginning of the cat sitting process, we provide a preliminary meeting free of charge. This enables you to meet your prospective cat sitter and discuss the care that is required for your cat(s). It is also a good opportunity for us to meet your cat(s) and for you to show us where your cat supplies are kept alongside your cat’s favourite hiding places etc. You can also give us general instructions regarding the care of your cat(s) whilst you are away.

The preliminary meeting also allows you to demonstrate any house alarms and key access to your property.

Booking Confirmation

After the preliminary meeting, you will be sent a confirmation of your cat sitting booking by way of our invoice. The invoice is payable in advance or by the start of the service by electronic transfer or cheque.

Prepare for the Cat Sitting visits

Grey Cat
  • After hiring your cat sitter please ensure that there will be enough cat food, litter, etc for the duration of your trip away.
  • If we are required to give your cat medication, please also leave out the medication with the Veterinary instructions. It is a good idea to inform your vet that we will be caring for your cat in your absence.
  • If your cat wears a collar with an ID tag, make sure it is wearing the collar before you leave.
  • Please leave out spare batteries in the case of battery-operated cat flaps.
  • In the colder months, be sure to set a comfortable house temperature for your cats.
  • Please make sure that you remove potentially dangerous plants, glass objects, Christmas decorations, etc.
  • Please place cleaning supplies etc where they can be easily accessed.
  • Inform your cat sitter if there have been any changes to the cat care requirements since the preliminary meeting.
  • It is advisable to let your neighbours know that you have hired a pet sitter to visit whilst you’re away. If applicable, please give your Landlord our details in case of an emergency.
  • Please access your online Client Portal before you go away and make sure we hold all the correct details, such as your away contact details, as well as your alternate and emergency contact information, veterinary details, etc. You can add notes to your online record regarding the care for your cat and any other information you would like us to be aware of.
  • If your cat is going to be having access to a cat flap – please provide us with a photo that will help with finding it should it go missing.

During the Cat Sitting process

  • Whilst you are away we will update you as to how your cat is getting on.
  • If requested, we can send you pictures of your cat/upload to our Facebook page.

On your return

  • If your return is delayed, please contact us so that we can continue the visits to your cat.
  • Please let us know when you are home safely.

Key Holding Service

Kitten being looked after by our cat sitting service

  • To carry out the cat care assignment, we will need a copy of your house keys which we will keep locked away and separate from your details, to comply with the Data Protection Act.
  • We normally retain keys but they can be returned to you if you wish. Retaining the keys, though, ensures we can continue to care for your cat in the event of an emergency or if your return is delayed. Should you wish us to collect the keys after our initial consultation (or return them after an assignment), there may be a fee to cover our costs.
